Abstract

ABSTRACT. Based on bibliographic research, the article analyzes the challenges of sustainable education in different countries, the approaches and concepts existing in these countries. The theoretical and practical aspects of distance learning are studied.

Quantitative research has been conducted to identify the factors hindering the formation of a sustainable education system in Georgia, to evaluate the positive and negative sides of distance learning and to determine the directions of sustainable education.

The paper highlights the problems in the field of sustainable education system and distance learning in Higher Educational Institutions of Georgia; There is substantiated the need to identify the mechanisms that will create favorable conditions for the sustainable development of the education system in the conditions of distance learning.

The article evaluates the opinions of scientists and researchers about distance education, conducts a SWOT analysis of distance education. Population-based/Census-based approach is used to determine the impact of distance learning on sustainable education system. The results of the research are processed by the SPSS program.

Based on the analysis of quantitative research results and discussion with focus groups, conclusions are made and recommendations are developed on the directions of achieving sustainable education in the conditions of distance learning.
